AIR FORCE JROTC

Air Force Junior ROTC is a course like no other, one that can and will change your life!

AFJROTC is not a military recruitment class and there is no military service obligation for taking this course. Our program is designed to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship, promote community service, instill personal responsibility, character and self-discipline. During the 2020/21 survey of participating principals, over 98% agree AFJROTC produces better students, instills core values, improves grades and graduation rates, increases community service involvement, and develops citizens of character.

Freshman cadets can receive the required graduation credit for both PE and Health.  Many cadets also earn one Community Service Learning (CSL) credit towards graduation by completing 75 community service hours.

During the 2022-23 school year, the 81st earned our FIFTH consecutive "Distinguished Unit Award."  We also earned our SECOND consecutive “Silver Star” Community Service with Excellence Award!  This prestigious award recognizes the top 5% of all AFJROTC units based on community service in support of school and local communities, and our program was 1 of only 44 AFJROTC units selected out of approximately 870 units worldwide for this award.  During 2022-23, our cadets had 3,445 community service hours, averaging over 42.5 hours per cadet.

The mission of AFJROTC is to “Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community."  Over the past 5 years, our cadets have volunteered more than 14,150 hours in support of JNPSD and the local community.  Our cadets continue to selflessly lead by example and have proven their "true grit"...passion and perseverance....through sustained superior performance.

AFJROTC is also FUN!  We offer an extensive variety of opportunities for cadets to include our Flight Simulators and our Academic, Cyber, eSports, Marksmanship, Archery, Athletics, Robotics, Drones, and Drill Teams.  Last year several cadets traveled to the Air Force Academy in Colorado; others piloted Cessna aircraft with the Civil Air Patrol; and we celebrated the end of the school year dancing the night away at our Air Force Ball.

We’d love to have you or your scholar become part of our family!  Together We RISE!
