afjrotc award

Congratulations to Capt. James Warren, Sgt. Dennis Williams and the JHS Air Force Junior ROTC Cadets for earning the 2021-22 Distinguished Unit with Merit Award.

The Distinguished Unit with Merit Award may only be earned during the same academic year in which the unit receives a HQ AFJROTC evaluation with an overall rating of "Exceeds Standards." AFJROTC has 870 units worldwide, and our program was 1 of only 95 units to earn this award this year (and only one in Arkansas).  This is our 4th consecutive DUA, and 2nd consecutive DUA with Merit.

Our cadets have nearly 2900 community service hours this year, averaging over 47.5 hours per cadet. During the past 4 years, our cadets have volunteered nearly 11,000 hours in the local community.
Three cadets have volunteered more than 150 hours this year:
-C/1Lt Samuel Palmer
-C/Lt Col Kaleb Shipman
-C/SSgt Olivia Vaughn
Six other cadets have 100+ (but less than 150) community service hours:
-C/Lt Col Jiona Lee
-C/1Lt John Birmingham
-C/Capt Clara Strickland
-C/SSgt Antwain Dednam
-C/Amn Kierston Smith
-C/A1C Hayden Wilson
JHS AFJROTC cadets have an additional 1,100+ extra-curricular hours (18 hours average per cadet) this year. These Leadership Development Requirement (LDR) activities include Archery, Marksmanship, Multicopter, Robotics, Rocketry, Armed/Unarmed Drill, Color Guard, Academic Team, Saber Team, Spirit Squad, Awareness Presentation Team, eSports Team, Raider/Fitness team, and more.
Our amazing cadets have averaged more than 65.5 hours each in combined Community Service and LDR activities beyond the classroom.
