Jacksonville, Arkansas — For the first time in the history of the Jacksonville North Pulaski School District, this weekend scholars participated in the Arkansas High School Model Arab League Conference held at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. The academic conference provided students with an opportunity to engage in international diplomacy, policy discussions, and collaborative problem-solving alongside students from across the state.
Representing Jacksonville High School, the participating scholars included:
· Dakiyla Anderson Robinson
· Wesley Jacobs
· Landon Hillman
· Jasmine Serrano
· Hunter McCormick
· Sarayu Bledsoe
The Model Arab League program simulates meetings of the League of Arab States, providing students with a realistic diplomatic experience. Participating delegations serve as diplomats for the weekend, representing one of the League’s 22 member states in both general and specialized councils.
During the conference, students researched global and regional issues, drafted policy resolutions, and engaged in structured debate using formal parliamentary procedure. Delegations worked collaboratively to develop solutions to real-world challenges affecting the Arab world and the broader international community.
Resolutions drafted and debated within council sessions were voted on and, if approved, advanced to the conference’s Summit Session, where they were presented to the full body of delegates for final debate and vote—mirroring the process used in international diplomatic forums.
Jacksonville High School students demonstrated exceptional leadership and academic preparation throughout the conference. Two students also received special recognition for their performance:
· Distinguished Delegation Award — Landon Hillman
· Outstanding Delegation Award — Hunter McCormick
Their achievements highlight the commitment of Jacksonville North Pulaski School District to expanding opportunities that promote critical thinking, civic engagement, leadership development, and global awareness.
